Storm preparedness in Germany and rising material costs in Paraguay

In Germany, authorities and industry experts are issuing guidance to prepare homes for autumn storms. The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) recommends securing or bringing indoors movable outdoor items such as flower boxes, pots, sun umbrellas, and garden furniture.

The Window + Facade Association (VFF) advises retracting awnings and fully lowering roller shutters, ensuring ventilation slots are closed, to protect windows from wind and debris.

In Paraguay, recent severe hailstorms have caused significant property damage, leading to a sharp increase in the cost of building materials. Following the destruction of roofs, the price of individual roof tiles has reportedly risen from 1,500 Guaranies to as much as 3,000 Guaranies as demand for replacements surges.
