Stormers prepare for Scarlets clash in United Rugby Championship

The Stormers are preparing to host the Scarlets at DHL Stadium in Cape Town for a United Rugby Championship (URC) match. A key storyline for the Stormers is the debut of scrumhalf Haashim Pead, who will start alongside Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu. This new halfback pairing faces significant pressure due to the absence of key players, including captain Ruhan Nel and fullback Damian Willemse.

Stormers director of rugby John Dobson highlighted the need for defensive accuracy against the Scarlets, noting that the Welsh side leads the URC in kicking statistics, including kicking metres and kick possession. Dobson described the Scarlets' tactical approach as part of their rugby identity, rooted in the traditions of the Llanelli club.

The Scarlets arrive in South Africa following a strong performance in the EPCR Challenge Cup, where they defeated the Newcastle Red Bulls 47-14. Their recent form includes a victory over Benetton after losing their opening two URC matches.
