Storms disrupt ferry and cruise services in Northern Europe

Severe weather conditions and high waves in the North Sea and English Channel have forced multiple maritime service disruptions.

In Germany, several ferry connections to the island of Helgoland have been canceled due to forecasted storm-force winds. Affected routes include the Cassen Eils ‘Nordlicht’ between Cuxhaven and Helgoland, the FRS Helgoline ‘Halunder Jet’ from Hamburg, the ‘Adler Cat’ from Wilhelmshaven, and the ‘Funny Girl’ from Büsum.

Additionally, the cruise ship Mein Schiff 3 has altered its Western Europe itinerary, skipping its scheduled stop in Le Havre due to storms in the English Channel. The vessel is expected to return to Bremerhaven earlier than planned. Other cruise ships, including the P&O Arvia, MSC Preziosa, and MSC Virtuosa, have also adjusted their routes or returned to Southampton early to ensure passenger safety.
