Storms in Punjab, Pakistan kill 10 and trigger widespread flooding

Heavy monsoon rains swept across Punjab, Pakistan, causing roof collapses, flash floods and drowning incidents that left ten people dead, including women and children. Fatalities were reported in Lahore, Kasur, Gujrat, Hafizabad and Gujranwala as roofs gave way and floodwaters swept victims away.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department warned that the intense rainfall would continue until July 27, while the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that river flows remained largely stable in most low‑lying areas but rose sharply in upstream regions. Flood levels were described as low in the Chenab, moderate in the Indus tributaries and higher in the Jhelum and Ravi. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as more rain is expected.
