Stormy the rescued kitten now available for adoption in Los Angeles

A three‑month‑old kitten nicknamed Stormy was rescued after spending two weeks trapped in a storm drain in Gardena, California. Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and animal‑control officers faced a stuck manhole cover and private‑property complications, but after assistance from Los Angeles County Public Works and three contractors the cover was opened and Stormy was captured in a humane trap.

SPCALA President Madeline Bernstein said the kitten appears healthy and strong. Stormy has been placed at the SPCALA South Bay Pet Adoption Center in Hawthorne, where the public can view and adopt the animal during regular hours.

The rescue highlights community involvement, with neighbors providing food and water for the trapped kitten and coordinating with officials to secure access to the drain.
