Storytelling festivals launch in Quebec and France

The 30th edition of the Rendez-vous des Grandes Gueules will take place in Trois-Pistoles from October 3 to 11. The festival features 41 shows involving approximately fifty Francophone spoken-word artists across 21 locations in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Chaudière-Appalaches regions. Key performances include David Marin’s ‘Radio-Compost’, a family show by Ariane Labonté, and a musical production titled ‘Ailleurs que nous’ by Elise Argouarc’h and Michel Faubert.

In France, the ‘Contes givrés’ festival has returned, running through October 31 with forty performances across three departments. The season opened at the Espace Culturel Louis Aragon in Saint-Vallier with ‘Cabaret LIP’ by the company L’oCCasion. This performance dramatizes the 1973 worker-led collective management movement at the LIP watch factory in Besançon, exploring themes of social struggle and utopia through dance and song.
