Stow Maries Aerodrome pilot seriously injured in aircraft crash
A pilot has sustained serious injuries following a light aircraft crash during an airshow at the Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome in Essex. The incident occurred shortly before 2:25 pm on Sunday during a display by the Turbulent Team.
The aerodrome confirmed that one of the aircraft was damaged and the event was immediately halted. The injured pilot was transported to a hospital in London. The site has since been closed to the public.
Emergency services and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) are currently cooperating with the venue to investigate the cause of the accident. The sold-out festival of aviation was intended to raise funds for the site's First World War military aviation museum.
