Stéphane Lamart buys 300-euro lobster to release it into the sea

Stéphane Lamart, president of the Stéphane Lamart Animal Protection Association, purchased a live lobster for 300 euros at a seafood restaurant in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin to release it back into the sea.

During a birthday dinner on August 9, a waitress presented the day's catch, which included a live lobster priced at 10 euros per gram. Lamart, a long-time animal rights activist, described the scene as “terribly violent symbolically” because the animal was being presented as a commodity rather than a living creature.

After paying for the lobster, Lamart took the crustacean to the Mediterranean coast to release it, using the gesture to highlight his ongoing advocacy against the practice of boiling crustaceans alive without prior stunning.
