Stöppelhaene harvest parade returns to Raalte
The Stöppelhaene harvest parade (Oogstcorso) is taking place in Raalte, featuring nineteen participating floats constructed exclusively from natural materials.
One participant, Hanneke Kleverkamp, is preparing a float themed ‘From Farmer to Beer’ using a meticulous process of applying various seeds collected from supermarkets, animal feed companies, and Asian grocery stores. Her family has been participating in the event since 2019, dedicating several weeks to the construction process.
While the event continues, some long-standing local traditions are changing. For certain groups of spectators, this year marks the end of a decades-old tradition of watching the parade from a specific residence on BK-straat, as the group of regular viewers has dwindled and the house is being sold.
