Stradun Classic festival to host Marija Grazio world premiere

The Stradun Classic festival, organized by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, recently held its ‘Baroque and Still’ concert featuring works by E. Ysaÿea, H. Villa-Lobosa, J. D. Zelenke, and Bach.

The festival is preparing for its penultimate concert, titled ‘In the Fog’ (U magli), scheduled for September 5 at 21:15. The program will include Bruch’s Romanian Rhapsody, Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Klein’s Divertimento for wind octet, and Janáček’s ‘In the Fog’.

A highlight of the upcoming concert will be the world premiere of ‘Chronicles of Disappearance’ (Kronike nestajanja) by Dubrovnik pianist and composer Marija Grazio. The four-movement quintet for clarinet, horn, bassoon, cello, and piano explores themes of originality and emotional states through time. Grazio noted that the work includes specific atmospheric cues for performers to avoid bias while capturing her unique musical language.
