Branko Lazić announces retirement from professional basketball

Branko Lazić, the long-time captain of Crvena zvezda, has officially announced his retirement from professional basketball. The announcement was made via a video message during a gala event in Ljubljana celebrating the 25th anniversary of the ABA League.

Lazić received a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony, recognized as the most decorated player in the history of the regional competition. Throughout his career, which included stints at FMP and a 14-season tenure with Crvena zvezda, he secured 26 trophies. His achievements include seven ABA League titles, nine Serbian championships, nine Radivoj Korać Cups, and one ABA Supercup.

As a record-holder for Crvena zvezda, Lazić holds the club record for most appearances with 838 games. The club issued a statement honoring him as a symbol of their rise, noting his indelible impact on the team during their return to the top of regional basketball.
