Strahoninec and Podstrana celebrate municipal days with school and sports facility projects
On June 12, the municipality of Strahoninec marked its municipal day with a formal council session. Officials highlighted recent achievements, including the completion of energy‑efficient renovations at the elementary school and the construction of a new school building with 15 classrooms, a library and a kitchen. Mayor Franjo Lehkec said, “Today is a moment when we can proudly look back at the results and thank everyone whose work, knowledge and dedication contribute to Strahoninec’s development.” The celebration also noted a growing influx of young families and plans for expanded transport links and a pedestrian‑bike network.
Later the same day, Podstrana held its municipal day ceremony. Mayor Mijo Dropuljić announced two flagship projects: a new primary school in Miljevac and a sports hall for Croatian veterans in Strožanci, describing them as “investment in our children, their education and growth.” The council also discussed broader infrastructure upgrades, including a water‑supply system, a traffic bypass (TTTS) to ease congestion, and continued work on local roads. Regional officials and representatives from neighboring municipalities attended, underscoring the collaborative effort to improve public services and community life.
