StraitsMicro's Visora surveillance SoC unveiled in India

Singapore‑based semiconductor firm StraitsMicro demonstrated its Visora sovereign Camera System‑on‑Chip (SoC) family at a pre‑silicon showcase in Bengaluru. The FPGA‑based proof‑of‑concept targets CCTV and network video recorder applications, offering AI‑enabled edge processing, secure architecture and privacy‑preserving features. Three product tiers were presented – Visora Edge for residential and small‑business cameras, Visora Secure for commercial deployments with integrated AI acceleration, and Visora Pro for 4K multi‑camera solutions used in defence, transport and smart‑city projects, alongside a dedicated Network SoC for video recorders.

Visora is positioned as India’s first indigenous surveillance SoC, created to fill the gap left by government restrictions on Chinese components. StraitsMicro highlighted collaboration with Bengaluru design partner Proxlera, distributor Aqtronics and EMS partner VVDN, and stressed the broader aim of building a trusted AI‑enabled semiconductor ecosystem for critical infrastructure. Founder and CEO Pankaj Sharma said the demonstration marks the start of a roadmap that leverages India’s design talent and Singapore’s manufacturing expertise to deliver globally competitive, secure surveillance solutions.
