Strange Scaffold announces horror book-sorting game Something is Wrong with the Library

Strange Scaffold and Frosty Pop have announced Something is Wrong with the Library, a psychological horror game that blends cozy tidying mechanics with dark narrative elements. Set in the fictional town of Sweet Elm, players take on the role of former administrator Phillip Shed during a night shift at the Alex Dieter Public Library.

The gameplay involves organizing books using the Dewey Decimal System while navigating a disturbing storyline involving a billionaire who hid corpses within the library walls. The experience is described as a “cozy horror mash-up” where players must manage chores while encountering psychic manifestations and supernatural violence.

The title is scheduled for release on PC via Steam in the fourth quarter of 2026. Studio head Xalavier Nelson Jr., a former librarian, aims to create an atmosphere of eerie tension within the familiar setting of a library at night.
