Stranger Than Heaven gameplay revealed at PAX Aus 2026

Hands-on demonstrations of the upcoming title ‘Stranger Than Heaven’ were featured at PAX Aus 2026. Developed by RGG Studio and published by Sega, the game is a next-gen IP that utilizes a time-traveling narrative set across various locations and eras in Japan.

The gameplay demo showcased a unique combat system involving two-handed mechanics. Players use shoulder buttons to execute a mix of light and heavy attacks with both left and right hands. The combat emphasizes dodging, parrying, and blocking to counter enemies. Players can also switch between melee weapons mid-combat and trigger finishing moves on stunned opponents.

The demo consisted of three combat stages of increasing difficulty. While the initial encounters involved fighting groups of standard enemies, the final stage featured a challenging one-on-one battle against a samurai-style opponent, requiring precise parrying to succeed.
