Stranger Things tops US streaming viewership in first half of 2024

According to Nielsen’s semi‑annual report, Netflix’s Stranger Things was the most‑watched streaming title in the United States during the first six months of 2024, accumulating 23.26 billion minutes of viewing. The series also set a record for the highest weekly volume on the Nielsen Top 10 chart, with 8.65 billion minutes streamed in the week of 29 December.

The overall ranking was dominated by traditional TV‑originated productions, with Disney+’s Bluey in second place (22.81 billion minutes) followed by Max’s The Pitt, Hulu/Netflix’s Grey’s Anatomy, and Max’s The Big Bang Theory. Other popular titles included Netflix’s Bridgerton, Paramount+’s SpongeBob SquarePants, and Hulu’s Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers.

The data underscores the continued strength of legacy franchises and family‑oriented programming on streaming platforms, even as the Stranger Things final season concluded at the end of 2023.
