Strasbourg court orders eviction of Krimmeri camp occupants

The administrative court of Strasbourg has ordered the eviction of approximately 150 people living in the Krimmeri camp located in the Meinau district. The ruling, issued on Tuesday, October 27, follows a request by the City of Strasbourg and the Eurométropole.

The occupants, who reside in makeshift shelters, tents, and caravans near the Meinau stadium, have been given five days to vacate the premises and remove all personal property, including vehicles. The court determined that the occupation of public land met the ‘condition of urgency’ due to the precarious, unsanitary, and dangerous nature of the living conditions.

Local authorities are authorized to carry out the eviction using legal means and public force, at the expense and risk of the occupants, should they fail to leave voluntarily.
