Strasbourg literary awards announce inaugural winners

The inaugural Prix Strasbourg has announced its four winners, a literary competition established by Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, CIC, Bibliothèques idéales, and Groupe EBRA. The awards, which carry a total prize pool of 55,000 euros, aim to honor works that promote the values of an open and engaged society.

The Grand Prix Strasbourg Crédit Mutuel was awarded to Roman Badanine and Mikhaïl Roubine for ‘Le Tsar en personne’ (Les Arènes). The book is an investigative work by two exiled Russian journalists detailing the political systems and networks surrounding Vladimir Putin.

Other winners include:

• Prix Strasbourg Bibliothèques idéales: Yannick Haenel for ‘La solitude des professeurs est infinie’ (Gallimard). • Prix Strasbourg EBRA: Marion Dubreuil for ‘Pelicot, un procès pour l'Histoire’ (Futuropolis). • Prix Strasbourg Espoir CIC: Thélyson Orélien for ‘C'était ça ou mourir’ (Grasset).

The winners will be officially honored on September 29 during the Bibliothèques idéales festival in Strasbourg.
