Strasbourg resident petitions for defibrillators on trams
A resident of Strasbourg has launched a petition calling for the installation of defibrillators on all trams following multiple cardiac emergencies on the network this summer.
The initiative was sparked by a student, Fouad Nammour, who witnessed a man suffer a cardiac arrest on a tram line E near the Jardiniers stop on August 31. Despite performing chest compressions for approximately 15 minutes while waiting for emergency services, Nammour noted the total absence of medical equipment such as defibrillators on the vehicle or at the station.
The petition, titled “Un défibrillateur dans chaque tramway peut sauver une vie” (A defibrillator in every tramway can save a life), urges the CTS to equip every tram with a rapidly accessible defibrillator and to ensure drivers are trained in their use.
