Strasbourg students protest housing shortage

Militants from the Fédération syndicale étudiante (FSE) held a demonstration in Strasbourg on August 31 at the Paul-Appell university residence. The protest aimed to highlight the housing crisis facing dozens of students, many of whom are non-European, who have been left without accommodation at the start of the academic year.

Protest organizers attributed the shortage to an insufficient rental market and criticized the Regional Centre for University and School Works (Crous) for failing in its public service mission. Activists called for the requisition of vacant housing and the provision of emergency accommodation, such as hotels or prefabricated units, to address the immediate needs of displaced students.
