StrassenEngel association faces funding challenges in Hanau

German CDU Member of Parliament Pascal Reddig visited the StrassenEngel association in Hanau to discuss the organization's current challenges with founder and director Sabine Assmann. The association, which provides support to homeless individuals and those affected by elderly poverty, relies entirely on donations.

Assmann reported that while the demand for assistance is increasing, the organization's financial foundation remains fragile. The association currently supports approximately 100 people, offering services such as hot meals, clothing, hygiene facilities, and a street ambulance. Many recipients struggle with low pensions and health issues, often living in hidden poverty.

A new multi-generational house operated by StrassenEngel is scheduled to begin operations on September 1. This facility is intended to provide a protected space for elderly individuals and mothers from women's shelters along with their children.
