Strategy and Strive increase Bitcoin holdings amid falling exchange supplies

Corporate entities are increasing their Bitcoin holdings, contributing to a tightening of available supply on exchanges. Strategy announced the purchase of 1,665 Bitcoin on September 28. As of September 21, the company’s ledger showed holdings of 846,000 BTC.

Strive has also disclosed significant Bitcoin acquisitions. CEO Matt Cole noted that the company currently operates debt-free with no margin requirements or encumbered Bitcoin. Strive reported acquiring 6,236 BTC during the quarter ending June 30 and 12,237 BTC during the first half of the year.

These corporate accumulation trends coincide with a decline in Bitcoin exchange balances. Data from CoinGlass indicates that exchange holdings dropped by 40,000 BTC in a single week, bringing total holdings to 2.46 million BTC, the lowest level since mid-May. While these corporate purchases provide context for supply dynamics, they do not directly establish a causal link to specific exchange withdrawals, which can also result from transfers to self-custody or institutional wallets.
