Strategy sells 1,638 Bitcoin for $105 million, funds preferred‑stock dividends and boosts USD reserve

Strategy Inc. sold 1,638 Bitcoin between July 27 and August 2, 2026 for a total of $104.7 million, an average price of $63,957 per BTC. The proceeds were split almost evenly: $52.4 million funded dividend payments on the company’s perpetual preferred stock (STRC) and $52.3 million was used to repurchase STRC shares, including an $81.2 million buyback of 912,143 shares. In the same period the firm raised $250 million from a secondary offering of MSTR common stock, increasing its U.S.‑dollar reserve to about $4 billion and extending its USD runway by 57 days. After the sale, Strategy’s Bitcoin treasury fell to 842,138 BTC, down from 843,775 BTC, with a total cost basis of roughly $63.5 billion (average $75,419 per BTC). The company still holds about 4 % of the total Bitcoin supply. The transaction was part of a new capital framework that allows up to $1.25 billion of Bitcoin sales to support dividend obligations, share repurchases and cash reserves. CEO Michael Saylor emphasized that the sale does not change the firm’s long‑term Bitcoin conviction, noting, “When I say ‘Never Sell Your Bitcoin,’ I speak as one saver to another. I have never sold mine. No one satoshi.” Bitcoin’s market price remained stable, and MSTR stock saw a modest relief rally after the announcement.
