Strategy adds 1,587 BTC, boosting corporate reserve to 846,842 coins

Strategy Inc. purchased 1,587 BTC between June 8 and June 14 for roughly $100 million, at an average price of about $63,024 per coin. The acquisition raised the company's Bitcoin holdings to 846,842 BTC, roughly 4 % of the total supply, valued at approximately $56 billion at current market prices. The buy was funded through proceeds from its at‑the‑market stock‑sale programme, which also generated $209 million in cash. In conjunction with the Bitcoin purchase, Strategy increased its U.S.‑dollar reserve to $1.1 billion.

Earlier in May the firm sold 32 BTC – its first sale since 2022 – as a test of internal processes and to generate tax losses. CEO Michael Saylor framed the sale as a necessary step for a corporate treasury that must meet dividend and debt obligations, and later signaled the new purchase with his usual “still adding dots” post on X. The market reacted positively: Strategy’s share price rose about 7 % on the announcement, reinforcing its position as the world’s largest publicly‑traded Bitcoin holder.

Analysts note that the continued accumulation, often below the company’s average cost basis, strengthens institutional confidence in Bitcoin as a treasury asset while the parallel growth of the USD reserve provides liquidity for preferred‑stock dividends and other obligations.
