Strategy's STRC Preferred Share Jumps Over 30% on Bitcoin Sales and Cash Reserve Boost
Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) saw its permanent preferred share, STRC, rise more than 30% from its June low, trading near $94 as Bitcoin prices steadied above $60,000. The company sold about 1,638 BTC for roughly $1.0‑1.05 billion, cutting its Bitcoin holding to around 842,000 BTC while expanding its cash reserves to about $4 billion. With the cash, Strategy repurchased STRC shares—supporting the share price toward its $100 par value and maintaining a 12% annual dividend yield. CEO Michael Saylor said the firm will not issue new preferred shares if the price falls below $100 and will continue disciplined buybacks to keep the price near that level. These moves are part of Strategy’s broader plan to use Bitcoin as a liquid asset, sustain dividend payments, and pursue its ambition to become the world’s largest market‑cap company.
