Strathcona-Sherwood Park referendum results show mixed voter alignment

Unofficial Elections Alberta results from the Strathcona-Sherwood Park referendum indicate a complex voting pattern. While local voters largely aligned with provincial trends on several issues, notable differences emerged regarding the scope of provincial power.

Local voters supported all five questions concerning immigration, eligibility for government programs, and election rules. Support for measures such as proof of citizenship requirements, provincial control over immigration, and restrictions on access to publicly funded services exceeded provincial averages.

However, support declined significantly when the ballot addressed questions regarding institutional power and Alberta’s relationship with the federal government. Specifically, voters rejected a proposal that would allow provinces to choose judges.
