Straubing-Bogen District Receives New Syrian Asylum Seekers

The Straubing‑Bogen district in Bavaria has been assigned 35 asylum seekers, most of them from Syria. Twenty‑five of those individuals have been placed in a facility in Steinburg that the district has rented since 1 December on behalf of the state.

District Administrator Josef Laumer said the authorities expect further central assignments and are preparing additional accommodation. He noted that while the overall German situation remains serious, the district is better equipped than in 2015, though daily arrivals from Ukraine and other sources continue to challenge local resources.
