Straus Family Creamery recalls organic ice cream in 17 U.S. states over metal risk

Straus Family Creamery voluntarily recalled select flavors of its Organic Super Premium ice cream after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration flagged the possible presence of metal foreign material. The recall covers vanilla bean, strawberry, cookie dough, Dutch chocolate and mint chip varieties sold in pint and quart containers. Only batches with specific “best‑by” dates—December 23 to December 30 2026—are affected. The products were distributed to retailers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin, beginning May 4.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported. Straus Family Creamery instructed consumers to discard the affected tubs and not return them to stores. The company is offering replacement vouchers through its recall website and said the action was taken “out of an abundance of caution.” The recall demonstrates the importance of traceability and rapid communication in food‑safety incidents.
