Straus Family Creamery recalls organic ice cream in 17 US states over metal contamination

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a voluntary recall of select organic ice‑cream products from Straus Family Creamery after potential metal fragments were detected in the frozen treats. The recall covers pint and quart containers of five flavors—Vanilla Bean, Strawberry, Cookie Dough, Dutch Chocolate and Mint Chip—produced for sale beginning May 4, 2026, with best‑by dates in December 2026. Products were distributed to retail outlets in 17 states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported. Consumers who purchased any of the affected items are advised to check UPC codes and best‑by dates, discard the product immediately, and may obtain a replacement voucher through the company's website or customer‑service line. Straus Family Creamery is cooperating with the FDA to remove the items from store shelves.
