Strava updates route discovery and offline navigation features
Strava has announced a series of updates designed to enhance route planning and discovery for outdoor activities such as cycling, running, and hiking. The new features include a more intuitive search function within the Maps tab, allowing users to search for routes using natural language or specific points of interest.
To assist with decision-making, the platform has expanded its route catalog and redesigned route cards to include community-contributed photos and real-world activity data. For users in remote areas, improved offline capabilities allow for the viewing of saved routes and the recording of activities without an active internet connection; data will automatically sync once connectivity is restored.
Future updates planned by the company include turn-by-turn audio navigation for subscribers, expanded route details with community tags for specific landmarks, and the introduction of web-based route browsing.
