Strawberries aid weight loss and boost nutrition, Romanian experts say
Strawberries are highlighted as a low‑calorie fruit, with one cup providing only about 45‑50 calories. The fruit supplies roughly 3 g of dietary fibre per serving, which "helps digestion and promotes regular bowel movements," explains nutritionist dietitian Elizabeth Klingbeil.
The berries also contain notable amounts of manganese, folate, potassium and vitamin C. Dietitian Laura Bellows notes that strawberries are "a powerful source of vitamin C," delivering more of the vitamin than an orange and supporting collagen production, wound healing, and skin and hair health. Antioxidants in strawberries protect cells from oxidative stress and may reduce overall inflammation, contributing to immune function and long‑term health. The combination of water and fibre slows digestion, enhancing satiety and helping people feel fuller longer, which can aid weight‑loss efforts.
