Aldi and Lidl launch Japanese Cheesecake desserts in German stores

A Japanese-style cheesecake that went viral on TikTok and Instagram is now sold as a ready‑to‑eat dessert in Germany. Aldi Nord introduced the product under its Milsani label on 13 July, offering a 165‑gram cup for €0.99 in roughly 2,200 stores nationwide. Lidl followed a few days earlier, offering two Skyr‑based variants – “Skyr and cocoa biscuit with cream filling” and “Skyr with biscuit and caramel” – in 255‑gram cups priced at €1.99, marketed under the Chef Select label.

Both retailers describe the items as limited‑time actions that will remain available only while stocks last. Aldi’s press release highlighted that the desserts bring the “trend that millions recreate at home” directly to the fridge shelf, eliminating the need for home preparation.

The launch reflects German discounters’ strategy of capitalising on fast‑moving social‑media food trends.
