Strawberry to develop lifestyle hotel in Tampere’s historic Frenckell mill

Nordic hotel group Strawberry is launching a new lifestyle hotel in the historic Frenckell paper mill in Tampere, Finland. Scheduled to welcome its first guests in 2028, the project marks Strawberry’s first entry into the Tampere market.

The development, led by property owner Aare Invest, aims to transform the industrial site into a cultural hub that integrates accommodation with dining, work, and entertainment. The hotel will feature 168 rooms and suites designed by the Finnish design agency Fyra, with Neva & Co serving as the lead designer. The aesthetic vision focuses on the area’s industrial heritage, utilizing raw brick walls and tactile materials to create a modern yet historic atmosphere.

Strawberry founder Petter Stordalen described the project as a “beating heart” for the city, emphasizing that the luxury experience will be defined by culture and human connection rather than traditional opulence. The hotel will maintain a direct link to Teatteri Frenckell, weaving the hospitality experience into the local cultural fabric.
