Stray dog attacks on children reported in Pune and Mathura

A series of stray dog attacks involving young children has raised safety concerns in multiple Indian regions.

In the Mhetre Vasti area of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, a four-year-old girl was attacked by a pack of seven stray dogs while playing outside her home on August 9. CCTV footage captured the pack surrounding the child. Nearby residents intervened after hearing her screams, driving the dogs away and rescuing her. The girl sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

In Mathura, a six-year-old girl was attacked by three stray dogs on a Saturday evening while playing near her residence. The dogs surrounded and bit the child until a local youth intervened with a stick, forcing the pack to flee. The girl was taken to a government hospital for treatment of her bite injuries.
