Drake, BTS, and Stray Kids opt out of 2027 Grammy submissions
Several major musical artists have opted not to submit their work for consideration in the 2027 Grammy Awards. Drake has declined to enter any songs from his three 2026 albums—Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour—despite these projects achieving significant commercial success and occupying the top three positions on the Billboard 200 simultaneously.
In the K-pop industry, both BTS and Stray Kids have announced they will not participate in the upcoming awards cycle. This decision follows controversy surrounding the Recording Academy’s introduction of a new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category. Critics and artists have expressed concerns that such a category may isolate Asian artists from mainstream recognition by categorizing them based on regional or linguistic criteria.
JYP Entertainment confirmed that Stray Kids did not submit any work before the August 21 deadline. Group member Hwang Hyun-jin previously stated that awards and records are not the group's primary objective, emphasizing that their priority is the satisfaction of their fans.
