Østre Landsret increases sentences in Odense bomb plot case

The Østre Landsret has increased the sentences for three men convicted of attempting to detonate a bomb containing 4.4 kilograms of plastic explosives in December 2023. The incident involved transporting the device to Nyborgvej in Odense, where attempts to detonate it failed because access to the building was blocked.

Deniz Köycu received a sentence of 13 years in prison, an increase from the 10 years originally handed down by the lower court. Ayad Ilias Aziz Abbas, a 19-year-old Swedish national, was involved in transporting the bomb to Denmark. While three men were convicted, a fourth man was acquitted of possession and attempted detonation charges, and another individual was acquitted regarding the specific incident at the Nyborgvej entrance.
