Streaming advertising volume rises 18% in US market

Advertising volume on major streaming platforms in the United States increased by 18% between January and August 2026, according to data from Ampere Analysis. By August, services averaged more than five minutes of commercials per hour of content.

Netflix saw the largest increase during this period, though it maintains the lowest advertising load among major competitors with less than 2.5 minutes per hour. In contrast, Paramount+ recorded approximately nine minutes of ads per hour, while Disney+ and Hulu ranged between 7.5 and 8.5 minutes. Prime Video was the only one of the nine major platforms studied to show a decrease in advertising compared to the beginning of the year.
