Streaming industry faces creator competition and rising Telegram piracy

The streaming landscape is undergoing a significant shift as competition moves toward content creators. YouTube is reportedly considering multi-million dollar deals to secure exclusivity with top creators, aiming to prevent them from migrating their activities to Netflix. This move marks a transition from the traditional model of individual user-generated content toward high-stakes professional agreements.

Simultaneously, academic research has highlighted the scale of digital piracy on Telegram. A study conducted by researchers from Louisiana State University and the University of Texas at Arlington identified over 19,000 unique pirated streaming titles across 1,057 channels. The findings indicate that piracy is a major activity on the platform, with popular content from companies like Toei Company, Netflix, and Warner Bros. being widely distributed through sophisticated networks designed to evade detection.
