Streaming platforms see resurgence of classic films and series

Several classic films and television series are experiencing renewed popularity on major streaming platforms.

Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 masterpiece, ‘The Godfather’, has climbed to the fourth position on the Apple TV Store top charts in the United States and has entered the top ten most popular films in 26 countries globally.

In the sci-fi genre, the 1997 film ‘Men in Black’, starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, has become one of the most popular titles on the free streaming service Tubi. Similarly, the 1997 survival thriller ‘The Edge’, featuring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin, is seeing a surge in viewership on Tubi.

In television, the Apple TV spy thriller series ‘Slow Horses’, based on the novels by Mick Herron, has been renewed for an eighth season. This renewal brings the production close to exhausting the available source material, as the seventh season will cover the eighth novel, leaving the eighth season to potentially adapt the final volume or move toward original storylines.
