Streaming thrillers achieve major hits on Prime Video and Disney+

Several thriller productions have achieved significant success across major streaming platforms. The film ‘The Housemaid’, an adaptation of Freida McFadden’s bestseller, has transitioned to Prime Video following a successful theatrical run that earned over $350 million globally, exceeding its budget tenfold.

Similarly, ‘The Gray Man 2’, starring Jon Bernthal and Ben Affleck, has become a major streaming hit on Prime Video. The sequel holds a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and recently ranked as the 10th most popular Prime Original film during the week of August 10, 2026.

On Disney+, the series ‘The Shards’, produced by Ryan Murphy and based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, has also seen high viewership. Despite mixed critical reviews, the series reached the second most popular spot on the platform and holds the fifth position in global streaming rankings.
