Streams of Joy International refunds N1.64m mistaken transfer

Sandra Okpara, a single mother of two, has successfully recovered N1,640,200 after mistakenly transferring the funds to an account belonging to Streams of Joy International, a church founded by Pastor Jerry Eze.

Okpara explained that the error occurred after she had made a N1,000 offering. While attempting to transfer a larger sum to a Zenith Bank account, she inadvertently selected the church's account instead. She stated that the money was not hers but was intended for other individuals she was obligated to pay.

After initial unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue through Zenith Bank and Moniepoint—where she was reportedly told a court order might be required—Okpara posted a distressed video appeal on social media. The video went viral, eventually reaching the church.

Streams of Joy International responded by stating they had not received a formal complaint prior to the video but initiated an investigation once they became aware of the claim. Following verification of the transaction, the church confirmed that the full amount had been refunded to Okpara.
