Street Fighter 6 reaches 7 million sales and expands to Nintendo Switch 2
Street Fighter 6 has reached 7 million sales worldwide as of June 2026, currently outpacing the lifetime sales of Street Fighter 5, which totaled approximately 7.9 million copies.
Producer Shuhei Matsumoto and Director Takayuki Nakayama noted that the development of the sixth installment was driven by a need to revitalize the franchise. Matsumoto stated that during the Street Fighter 5 era, the team realized the intellectual property might die within a decade if they did not take critical action to attract new players, as the existing player base was aging.
A digital-only version of Street Fighter 6 is also slated for the Nintendo Switch 2, priced at $39.99. This version will include 18 fighters and three game modes: Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub. While core fighting modes maintain a 60fps frame rate for competitive play, the World Tour mode is expected to run at approximately 30fps. The Switch 2 version will feature exclusive modes such as Local Wireless One on One, Avatar Matches, and Gyro Battle.
