Street Fighter movie expands universe with prequel graphic novel
Legendary Comics and Rocketship have announced ‘Street Fighter: The Official Movie Graphic Novel’, a prequel anthology designed to expand the universe of the upcoming live-action Street Fighter film. Scheduled for theatrical release on October 16, 2026, via Legendary and Paramount Pictures, the film’s lore will be supplemented by this graphic novel through a Kickstarter campaign featuring collectible editions.
The anthology will explore the origins of various characters. David Dastmalchian, who portrays M. Bison in the film, will write a chapter detailing the villain’s early life and rise to power. Another story, written by Nick Marino with art by Roberta Ingranata, will focus on Guile and Dhalsim forming an alliance to expose Shadaloo activity.
The project also highlights a crossover of talent with the WWE, as Cody Rhodes is cast as Guile and Roman Reigns as Akuma. The film’s main cast includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, and Jason Momoa as Blanka.
