Street Fighter movie features IMAX-optimized anime sequences

Actor Noah Centineo has highlighted unique technical aspects of the upcoming ‘Street Fighter’ film adaptation. Centineo, who portrays Ken Masters, noted that the movie features hand-drawn 2D anime sequences specifically designed for the expanded IMAX aspect ratio. Director Kitao Sakurai stated these sequences serve as a bridge between Japanese and American cultures, paying homage to classic anime such as ‘Akira’ and ‘Dragon Ball Z’.

In addition to the visual style, Centineo praised stunt coordinator John Valera for his meticulous research into the combat styles of the game’s characters. The production aimed to incorporate the signature moves of the franchise’s diverse roster to ensure authentic fighting styles during action sequences. The film, based on the Capcom video game series, features an ensemble cast including Andrew Koji as Ryu, Jason Momoa, and Joe Anoa’i.
