Street running industry expands in Brazil with 15 million practitioners
The street running sector in Brazil has reached an estimated 15 million practitioners, according to Thadeus Kassabian, co-founder of Yescom. During the SDE Bisutti Talks in São Paulo, Kassabian highlighted the significant economic impact of the sport, noting that it functions as a complex business chain involving sound, apparel, water, security, and various specialized suppliers.
In São Paulo, the frequency of running events has increased from an average of four to seven races per weekend in recent years. Yescom alone organizes approximately 40 annual events, directly impacting about 150,000 people.
As the modality grows, industry leaders are calling for better planning and more reliable economic indicators. Kassabian emphasized the need for precise data regarding revenue and commercial results to better guide organizers, sponsors, and service providers.
