Strășeni fatal pedestrian accident case moves to court
A mother is seeking justice following a fatal traffic accident in Strășeni involving a 14-year-old boy. The incident occurred on February 2 on the Chișinău—Ungheni route when a Mercedes, driven by 19-year-old police officer Curban Cîrlig, struck two minors who were legally crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing.
The collision resulted in serious injuries to a 12-year-old girl and the 14-year-old boy, the latter of whom subsequently died in intensive care. While the driver tested negative for alcohol, the boy's mother has expressed concerns during court proceedings that the driver may eventually return to driving, potentially endangering other children. The driver has expressed regret for the incident but has not offered a personal apology to the victim's family.
