Strider Robotics and Unitree launch quadruped robots for industrial inspection
Strider Robotics, based in Bengaluru, unveiled the M3 quadruped robot, an autonomous platform capable of carrying up to 40 kg on uneven terrain. Developed after research at the Indian Institute of Science, the M3 integrates AI‑driven navigation, mission planning and data analytics, and can host sensors such as thermal cameras, LiDAR and gas detectors. The company says more than 80 % of the robot’s components are indigenous and it is already in pilot deployments with customers in the oil‑and‑gas and automotive sectors for inspection, material handling and infrastructure monitoring.
Unitree Robotics introduced the AS2‑W, a 25 kg quadruped that combines wheels on each limb with legged locomotion. The robot can switch between rolling on smooth ground at speeds over 6 m/s and stepping over rough terrain, climbing 45‑degree slopes and obstacles up to 80 cm high. It can support a static payload of 150 kg (about 16 kg while moving) and runs for more than three hours on a 648 Wh battery, covering over 30 km without load. The AS2‑W is designed for outdoor work, inspection and exploration, featuring an IP54 rating and a compact form that folds for transport.
