Strategy raises $2B via stock sales while Strive expands Bitcoin treasury
Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) raised approximately $2 billion through the sale of 18.26 million MSTR shares between August 17 and August 23. According to SEC filings, the company did not purchase or sell any Bitcoin during this period, maintaining its holdings at 840,447 BTC.
The proceeds were allocated to strengthen the company's capital structure and liquidity. Strategy used $136.4 million to repurchase 1.43 million STRC preferred shares and added $300 million to its existing USD Reserve, which now totals $5.1 billion. The remaining funds were directed into a newly established “USD Cash” pool of $1.59 billion. This new liquidity pool is designed to provide flexibility for future Bitcoin acquisitions, debt servicing, or share repurchases.
In a separate development, Strive, Inc. expanded its Bitcoin treasury by purchasing 1,110 BTC for approximately $81.5 million between August 17 and August 21. This acquisition, at an average price of $73,409 per coin, brings Strive’s total holdings to 21,356 BTC, positioning it as one of the largest public corporate holders of the cryptocurrency.
