Strömsund schools face scrutiny over deficiencies and staffing
Debate has intensified in Strömsund regarding deficiencies within the local school system following criticism from the Swedish Schools Inspectorate. A local educator expressed concerns that pedagogical staff are being tasked with cleaning duties, such as washing curtains and disinfecting toys with chemicals, which they claim detracts from student supervision and educational quality.
In response to political criticism, Social Democratic representatives stated that internal controls are being improved and are expected to be completed by autumn. While the Left Party has called for more special educators and smaller group sizes, local officials emphasized the difficulty of recruitment and the necessity of balancing budgets across various welfare sectors, including elderly care and infrastructure.
