Störmthaler See begins construction of inclusive campsite

Construction has officially begun on a unique inclusion campsite at Störmthaler See in the Leipzig Neuseenland region. The project, located in the municipality of Großpösna, aims to provide barrier-free vacation and day tourism opportunities for people both with and without disabilities.

Spanning approximately 7 hectares, the site will feature a specialized three-part village structure. Planned accommodations include barrier-free holiday homes, tiny houses, and traditional pitches for motorhomes, caravans, and tents. The development is designed to integrate social infrastructure, including residential groups for children and youth receiving integration assistance, as well as animal-assisted therapy offerings.

The project is being led by the Städtischer Eigenbetrieb Behindertenhilfe Leipzig (SEB) and is supported by the municipality of Großpösna, the Leipzig district, and the Free State of Saxony. It is largely funded by 33.75 million euros from structural change funds designated for former lignite mining regions. Completion of the campsite is expected by the end of 2028.
